O crime ocorreu em 2014, a vítima foi levada para o meio da Floresta da Tijuca, durante uma tarde em que saiu para correr no trajeto que vai do Horto até a Vista Chinesa, no Rio de Janeiro.

A partir disso, foi criado o conceito principal do projeto: um livro exposto. Tal como a personagem, a obra também se apresenta “vulnerável” com sua lombada exposta, além de possuir marcas e incompletudes que ecoam o trauma de Joana.

Assim como parte do princípio adotado no conceito das ilustrações, o livro é envolto por uma luva de papel vegetal cuja opacidade transmite a sensação enevoada das memórias da protagonista. A linha em evidência presente tanto na lombada quanto na luva representa outro tópico do livro: o processo de reconstrução pessoal a partir do trauma.
A autora opta por uma abordagem temporal não linear, fragmentando a obra a fim de refletir a forma como a memória de Joana é inconstante, principalmente, durante seus depoimentos à polícia. Os detalhes de sua experiência estão sempre presentes, mas se perdem ao mesmo tempo, assim, a narrativa explora dois planos que se alternam e se sobrepõem na vida de alguém que enfrenta um trauma profundo.

As part of the principle adopted in the concept of the illustrations, the book is wrapped in a tracing paper sleeve whose opacity conveys the hazy sensation of the protagonist's memories. The prominent sewed line on both the spine and the sleeve represents another topic of the book: the process of personal reconstruction after trauma.
The author opts for a non-linear temporal approach, fragmenting the work in order to reflect the way in which Joana's memory is inconstant, especially during her statements to the police. The details of her experience are always present, but are lost at the same time, so the narrative explores two facets that alternate and overlap in the life of someone facing deep anguish.

Considerando esse constante movimento foi elaborado um estilo de ilustração no qual se transita entre a nitidez e o desfoque, transparecendo a dualidade do esquecimento e da lembrança do trauma. Além disso, as formas das ilustrações foram feitas a partir da distorção de recortes da silhueta de perfis masculinos. Nelas, foram incorporadas e sobrepostas palavras ou pequenas frases fragmentadas, se encaixando em cada momento do romance.

Taking this constant movement flow into account, an illustration style was created in which sharpness and blurriness were used to convey the duality of forgetting and remembering the episode. In addition, the shapes of the illustrations were created by distorting cut-outs of the silhouette of male profiles. Words or small fragmented phrases were incorporated amidst the pages, fitting into each moment of the novel.
